Before Music, There Is Always an Idea.

When I was young, I liked to write, invent, and imagine. I would take an idea and try to turn it into something that had never existed before. I didn’t write just to put words on a page; I felt the need to communicate, to create. Even today, when I write, I always try to convey something, whether it is an emotion, an image, an atmosphere, or a thought.
Writing and music have always gone hand in hand throughout my life. I remember the years when I was starting to make music behind the console of a nightclub and, almost at the same time, I was writing, spending time in recording studios and radio stations, and taking my first steps in composition. They were two worlds that naturally intertwined. I never saw writing as something that led me to music, nor music as something that led me to writing; they simply grew alongside me.
In the end, for me, writing and making music have always been part of the same world. Often, everything starts with a feeling, a phrase, an image, or an episode from life. Something that strikes me, stays with me, and that I feel the need to transform. Sometimes it takes shape through words, other times through a melody, a rhythm, an image, or an atmosphere, and sometimes words and music come together naturally.
A sentence that tells the story of a particular moment can become someone else's memory, just as a melody can take someone back to a distant place. A song can make someone feel less alone, even without knowing anything about their story.
And perhaps this is the part of creativity that interests me the most: creating a point of connection.
I don’t necessarily try to explain something or give a precise meaning to what I create. What interests me most is being able to convey a feeling, to leave something with the person who listens or reads and allow them to make it their own.
For me, it is a way to connect with people, to create a bond. When I let a song, a phrase, or an idea go, I don’t know where it will go, who will hear it, what moment in their life it will reach, or whether, in some way, it might leave something behind. I always hope it will.
Perhaps that is the most beautiful part: not knowing where what you have created will end up, but knowing that somewhere it might reach someone. And when it does, even if only for a moment, that feeling that started with you is no longer yours alone. It has found another person, another story, another way of being experienced.
This, ultimately, is what I seek when I write: to convey a feeling, evoke an emotion, and be able to share it with someone else.
The photograph accompanying these words captures one of those moments: a piano beside me, a page full of notes, and a pen in my hand.
There is nothing particularly spectacular about it, just the moment when I am trying to figure out how to transform an idea into something that can be heard.
And perhaps, in the end, this is what I have always sought through writing and music: to find a way to say something that can reach someone.
